In my research, I did find one excellent book by Marcia L. Tate titled ”Mathematics Worksheets Don’t Grow Dendrites.” She is referring to the latest in brain research that shows that boredom actually destroys dendrites (connectors in the brain). She gives 20 different strategies for improving learning and provides many different activities designed for K-8 math. I highly recommend her books. Both Marcia Tate and I are saying the same thing–don’t use boring, fill-in worksheets. We want our children growing new dendrites, not destroying them. I also offer a caution here. Many of the materials offered online for parents to help their children are nothing more than worksheets. Look before you buy. You don’t need worksheets. Use a small whiteboard instead.

Advantages of a Financial Planning Worksheet. What’s great about these worksheets is that there is nothing you can forget. Everything that may be counted as an income or a payment is filled in. All you have to do is to complete the boxes with the actual amounts of money you earn or you spend on something. The worksheet would most often remind you that every month there are unpredictable expenses and you should put a sum of money aside in case something unpredictable happens. You would be advised to put aside about five per cent of your income but you’d better begin with about twenty per cent. In the end of the month, if there have been no unforeseen problems you would have saved a large amount of money and you would be able to make a deposit where you would store your future savings.

Practice makes perfect. Learning math requires repetition that is used to memorize concepts and solutions. Studying with math worksheets can provide them that opportunity; Math worksheets can enhance their math skills by providing them with constant practice. Working with this tool and answering questions on the worksheets increases their ability to focus on the areas they are weaker in. Math worksheets provide your kids’ the opportunity to analytical use problem solving skills developed through the practice tests that these math worksheets simulate.

5. Goal setting worksheets provide accountability and allow you to monitor your success. Life has a lot of distractions and sometimes it is easy to lose sight of what you are working toward, so it is very beneficial to have a way to keep track of your progress. Check your worksheets regularly and mark off any objectives you have successfully reached. Recognizing your accomplishments will boost your self-confidence and motivate you to continue even when faced with setbacks or discouragements. Continual monitoring will also help you identify where you went wrong so you can make revisions or adjustments along the way. Remember, your plan is not carved in stone. It provides direction and a framework for you to work within, but there may be times when circumstances require you to be flexible or make changes that will improve your plan of action. 6. Goal setting worksheets increase your chance of success and help you achieve your goals faster. Having a clear plan will keep you focused and motivated, especially if your short-term goals are realistic and measurable and allow you to celebrate successes on a regular basis. Many people fail to achieve a goal because they do not know what to do to make their dreams a reality. These forms provide clarity and focus so you know exactly what is expected on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. Having a clear understanding of which steps you should take will help keep you committed and see the plan through to the end.

Now, consider a worksheet with 6 x 8 = ____ written ten times, but in a column. The child only has to consider the entire fact of 6 x 8 = 48 once. Then the child just writes 48 in the other slots without repeating the entire fact or even thinking the entire fact. There is a huge difference between recognizing the fact 6 x 8 = 48 and have to actively think about, write, and say 6 x 8 = 48 many times. This difference is equivalent to the difference between a multiple choice question and an essay question. The copy machine brought worksheets and worksheets greatly reduced the number of times a fact was repeated. Repetition is extremely important to learning a skill. In addition to the repetition issue is the fact that the more of your five senses you use in learning, the quicker you will learn and the longer the learning will last. Writing out the entire fact as you say it, uses vision, hearing and touch. And if you use a whiteboard rather than paper, your child will be happier about writing out the facts.

Kindergarten Worksheets present an interesting way for kindergarten children to learn and reinforce basic concepts. Since children learn best by doing and since children get bored very easily, giving them well-designed, illustrated worksheets to do makes it easier and more fun for them to learn. Completing a worksheet also gives children a great sense of fulfillment. How to use worksheets for best effect ==> 1. Give children worksheets appropriate to their level. Give an easy worksheet for a concept immediately after you teach that concept. 2. The worksheets should require a child to think just a little. If a child finds any activity too difficult, give him an easier one. It is important that the child doesn’t get frustrated. Remember that different children have greatly varying levels of comprehension and pace of learning.

7. Goal setting worksheets provide time frames and deadlines. Breaking larger goals into smaller sections, determining which steps have to be taken, and setting a completion date is a great formula for success. The best way to turn procrastination into motivation is to assign a deadline. You may even benefit from being accountable to someone who will check to make sure you have met your time frame guidelines. Committing your goals to paper will provide direction, keep you motivated and focused, and increase your self-confidence as you monitor your success along the way. By mixing big dreams with a practical approach you can bring clarity and focus to your goals that will keep you motivated and increase your chance of staying committed no matter what obstacles you may face.
